Playhouse Annual Christmas Gift Auction – A Guaranteed Good Time!
We’ve earned the reputation for having one of our community’s first holiday events of the season. And we’re doing it again this year! Start the Holiday Season off with a bang and a ‘bid’ by joining us for our 2013 Annual Christmas Gift Auction on Saturday, November 16th at The Morrisburg Meeting Centre. The evening begins with a 5PM social hour with free wine & cheese followed by a scrumptious dinner at 6:15PM and the Live Auction at 8PM. The Silent Auction continues throughout the evening. Tickets are $55.
The products and services featured in the Live and Silent Auctions are generously donated by local businesses, organizations and individuals. They include a wide array of practical and whimsical items with something for everyone. They are also unique ideas for that special someone on your gift list– or just for yourself!
The fun of the Auction is not only bidding on these wonderful gift items. A popular part of this annual event is the opportunity for those attending to socialize, share a wonderful meal, support professional live theatre and enjoy one of the community’s first Yuletide events of the Season!
Last year’s Auction raised over $16,000 which was directed towards the purchase of new seats. This year’s event promises to be even bigger and better. Funds will be used to renovate and upgrade the production and public areas of the building to allow us to carry on our tradition of producing a high standard of production and also to continue to offer our patrons a comfortable and safe venue for enjoying live professional theatre.

We’re celebrating our 30th Anniversary in some special ways. Our 2013 Season features a Summer Series of 4 comedies never before seen at The Playhouse, 2 brand new sensational live concerts in the Spring & Fall, a return visit, also in the Fall, from Canada’s most popular & hilarious mill-worker and a favourite Christmas tradition made new again with the thrill of magic and music.
We’ve added another matinee performance time for your convenience and also treating our audience by keeping our tickets at 2011 prices AND by installing new seats for added comfort. To mark its 30th anniversary, the Upper Canada Playhouse is aiming to provide its faithful audience with exactly what they want this year — more of the same.
“The main thing we’re going to do to celebrate our 30 years is that we’ll continue to do what’s worked for us,” said artistic director Donnie Bowes.
In contrast to their early beginnings under a tent in the woods three decades ago, the Playhouse now offers a packed slate of musical tributes, comedies and Christmas cheer.
Playhouse sports new seats!
To celebrate our 30th Anniversary we’ve treated our audience to brand new seats. Being entertained all year long at The Playhouse will be more enjoyable than ever! We’ve got yours waiting for you! 2012 Auction a Huge Success!
This year’s Playhouse Christmas Gift Auction was a great success.
In total it raised $16,000 which The Playhouse will direct towards the purchase of new seats for the 2013 Season-a celebration of its 30th Anniversary Season. Geraldine Fitzsimmons once again chaired the Auction which is The Playhouse’s only fundraising event. Products and services featured in the Live and Silent Auctions were donated by local businesses, organizations and individuals. They included a wide array of practical and whimsical items with something for everyone. They were also unique ideas for that special someone on peoples’ gift lists or just for themselves!

Scotiabank contributed $5,000 to Upper Canada Playhouse at the Auction through the Team Scotia Community Program that matches funds up to $5,000 for any community-based organization’s event where 2 or more Scotiabank staff members volunteer. A huge thanks to them!
